Review of The Host (2013) by Ellyn S — 27 Aug 2013
A half decent sci-fi premise gets Stephanie Meyer-ed on big time. It's hard to imagine certified screen writers writing dialogue this cringe worthy and grim. The main character also never fails to annoy because she is in fact 2 main characters, and the narrative arguments occurring in her mind are just annoying and awkward.
The sad part is, a movie about aliens invading the earth and controlling human bodies with a host soul could have worked if written by say...Ridley Scott. Sadly, they barely actually focus on this new alien civilization and decide our time is much better spent observing some stupid and complicated love triangle unfold, which to me is this film's main crime.
