Review of The Host (2006) by Nick J — 06 Oct 2009
When I read on Wikipedia that this film is "A rare combination of blockbuster plot and political commentary, the film also deals with the implications of America's military presence in Korea." I honestly had to double check it was referring to the same film.
The reality is that this is simply a B-movie with virtually no plot, annoying characters and a script that crow bars in a medalist archer who can't handle pressure but guess what? She comes good in the end.
As an action movie it gets bogged down with needless character development and really could do with loosing about 20 minutes on the editing room floor.
The special effects however where impressive and as my first ever South Korean monster movie I honestly can say I enjoyed it's mix of humour and gore. I would definitely recommend watching it.
