Review of The Host (2006) by Nia E — 06 Jan 2010
Superb film that is in turns moving, funny and scathingly political. Each member of the central family is a person to absolutely root for, and this is even more important when they're surrounded by characters meant as satirical tools.
The monster itself is fun, particularly in the way it moves, so that action is exciting when it happens. The monster effects are great, even with the dodgy fire at the film's climax. Wonderful.
