Review of The Host (2006) by Andrew S — 16 May 2014
The Host is easily up there as one of the most memorable films I saw this year. Truly a riveting action-packed monster movie, the film is more of a mystery as to what is to happen next rather than base all entertainment off of blood and gore.
It makes the happy civilization of Seoul look like a dreary, post-apocolyptic wasteland, and makes such an intense story out of a simple concept--a little girl being abducted by a beast proceeded by the desperate father's search.
It's simplicity which makes good films, a simple, smart story that is powerfully acted. This is what is missing in Hollywood.
