Review of The Host (2006) by Matthews. — 25 Mar 2007
Both wonderfully and infuriatingly sloppy as a film, but it has a unique pan-handle quality as The Host dashes from one corridor to the next looking for change. It is a molotov cocktail of horror, science-fiction, family drama, foreign policy wonk, comedy, and satire.
It has moments of pure brilliance as it attacks both government bureaucracies found in the film: Korea and the Occupied Forces of the United States. The film should be most aptly described as a cross between Little Miss Sunshine and Godzilla.
