Review of The Hospital (1971) by Robin W — 11 Jul 2007
If Paddy Chayefsky's script for "Network" pre-dated the reality T.V. craze by thirty years, his script for "The Hospital" beat Michael Moore's "Sicko" to the punch by over thirty-five years in exposing the flaws in the American health care system.
A disturbing, but often funny absurdist look at the inner workings of a troubled urban hospital, with a typically dynamite peformance by George C. Scott as a doctor tilting on the edge of sanity. Back then, you'd think it absolutely ridiculous that a person could die and be ignored in a hospital waiting room, but just recently.
