Review of The Horse Whisperer (1998) by Keith D — 07 Jul 2007
Soap opera settled into a beautiful landscape. But a beautiful landscape does not make a movie. I was not sympathetic with either of the main characters, and to be honest, a lot of romance films in this vein frustrate me--if the person is having issues with her husband, (who in this movie has hardly any screen time), why not sort through that kettle of fish first, before diving into a completely new one? Characters who so easily abandon the 'one they love' and become absorbed in what is realistically often a fling or one-night-stand are to me shallow and hardly credible.
Grow up. I felt hardly any real tension here pulling on the love affair, and the husband's little dialogue towards the end is sadly contrived and, I would think and hope, unrealistic.
