Review of The Honeymoon Killers (1970) by Darryl C — 25 Oct 2008
This film would be an acquired taste. i'm sure it was not a success when it was released. but now, it would go over like gangbusters. kastle probably had no budget, but he made a great deal out of the little he had.
the camera work is appropriately grainy and moody, the sound has the quality that it is being recorded as they are filming. lo bianco and stoler are brilliant in their roles. especially stoler. she gives everything she ahs and then some, making martha an operatic-style performance.
lo bianco responds with muted, understated offplaying. watching them is like watching a grand pas de deux. look out for doris roberts in a small part at the beginning!
