This is the only film Leonard Kastle was ever apart of and that is an absolute tragedy! Originally slated to be a midnight B movie. Kastle instead took this pulpy, bizarre true story and made it a sad, terrifying film of two people so lost they had no choice but to be together out of necessity.

There are so many shots in here that carry so much power to them it gave me the creeps. The music is used to perfection. Shirley Stoler and Tony Lo Bianco were actors I never knew of before this film.

They gave performances so raw and full of complexity that it left me reeling. Beautifully filmed in black and white. Scorsese was the original director for the film but he left/got fired from the project.

To be honest I can't imagine him making a better film out of this material than what Kastle did with it.
