Review of The Homesman (2014) by Michael Q — 22 Sep 2014
It's always a shame when a movie starts off this promising but because of a few poor decisions end up completely lame. Around the 90 minute mark focus shifts from Hilary Swank's interesting and insightful woman to Tommy Lee Jones run of the mill cowboy character.
Once the shift occurs I simply stopped caring and the constant tonal changes from comedy to drama worked at the start but got wildly slapdash towards the end. Overall it's a beautifully shot film that completely fumbles the final act.
Total shame.
