Review of The Homesman (2014) by Bryan F — 10 Dec 2014
A really, really...really good movie; not the usual regurgitated, contrived tripe that Hollywood usually vomits out to the shallow "Entertainment Tonight" crowd. This is a deep film with complicated characters who are struggling for physical, psychological and especially spiritual survival.
It's a gritty tale: Hilary Swank is heartbreakingly sincere and pure-hearted; Tommy Lee Jones plays one of his best roles ever and does an incredible job at Director. The Homesman is the kind of movie that you'll watch and then be thinking about for a few days after.
