Review of The Home Song Stories (2007) by Rachel T — 24 Mar 2008
Joan Chen is marvelous! A pathetic story about how a Chinese family struggle to live. Agree that Joan's character is irresponsible, self-centered mother, classic "playing victim" kind of woman.
Her suicide is sad but acts as a real relief to the whole family - or it's just highlighted to justify Tom's condemnation to his mom results in her suicide. Tom's fascination presented by old fashion Chinese classic movie is funny.
And agree that Uncle Bill is really a good man!
