Review of The Home Song Stories (2007) by Rachel B — 13 Jul 2009

I've been wanting to fall in love with an Australian film for a while - I think 'Lantana' was the last one. I've watched three in the last week - 'West', Burke & Wills' and 'The Home Song Stories'.

'The Home Song Stories' is easily the best. It is great to see Joan Chen in anything but to see her in an Australian film is amazing. If anyone has seen all three of these Australian films (I promise I won't give anything away), I find the common theme between the three intriguing and I wonder how much it says about contemporary Australian culture.

I'm interested to hear other people's comments on the subject. Anyhoo, Joan is about to appear in another Australian film - 'Mao's Last Dancer' - and with Kyle MacLachlan no less! Cooper and Josie back together again! Woohoo!
