Far more surreal than his El Topo from 3 years earlier. I thought El Topo was weird, but damn. He really undid himself. It reminds me of An Andalusian Dog, a real treat for surrealism lovers. A remake would be amazing. The many off-screen narrations would make translation into other languages easy. A green screen could save a lot on sets and produce a greater environment.
Use of long shots are used to awesome effect, but this stationary style makes the film feel stagnant and boring. The slow music doesn't help. Unexpected ending.
