Review of The Holy Mountain (1973) by Mark L — 12 Aug 2008
The Holy Mountain is avant-garde and fearless. This film is a visual surrealistic brain hemorrhage.
It was as if the filmmakers compiled a list of the deepest darkest human taboos on earth, then digested them and vomited them onto the screen.
The question I have is doesnt deconstructing our reality lead to dehumanization and nihilism, which leads to physical death. Thus, the only way to achieve the filmmaker's goals is suicide. Kind of pointless if u ask me. Deconstructing reality only makes sense if u reconstruct it into a new form, which by the laws of the game is no different from the original reality. Thus the point becomes to merely realize that reality is nothing...and then we go on with our lives sleeping, eating, voting, etc.
