Review of The Holy Mountain (1973) by Junaid M — 09 Mar 2012
A film that continually reassesses and scrutinizes the Abrahamic belief system's in a manner that is both gratifying and nauseating, in other words sublime. Beyond religion, the film projects a hideous image of our society and morality through representative planets and their converging characters.
This film is not for the masses or any sort of majority group bound by ideological barriers which limit interpretation. However, if one is to approach this cinematic experience with an open and possibly even scholarly disposition they may leave with a changed awareness or self.
