Review of The Hollars (2016) by Andrew D — 08 Oct 2016
So by the numbers and cringe worthy which is a shame because everyone involved is so talented. John Krasinski who is usually very likable plays the typical guy needs to find himself and deal with his "crazy family".
Every character in this movie is an archetype of better characters from better movies and its a shame because people like Margo Marntindale, Richard Jenkins, Shartlo Copley, Charlie Day, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Anna Kendrick who are great, funny, and charismatic are given nothing to do with this bland script which is all over place and just picks scenes from its favorite movies and copies its flaws.
It never earns any of its sad or comedic scenes. It was a frustrating movie experience and unfortunately one of the worst of the year which is a total shame because everyone involved is so damn talented.
