Review of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) by Millo T — 25 Dec 2014
Peter jackson cannot edit. When you turn a three hundred odd pages book into three feature length movies it's time to go to directors anonymous and admit you have a problem. Add to that narrative pacing problems plus extraneous scenes of stupid CGI special effects that look like game cutscenes and not even LoTR references and hints to a bigger evil afoot can save this movie from being slightly above mediocre.
Let us hope at least the grand melee and dragon slaying of part three manage to bring something new to the series lest it go out with a whimper rather than a bang.
