Review of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) by Carlos I — 20 Mar 2015
I really enjoyed this film, more so than the first installment. My big problem is that they're trying to make an "epic" trilogy like they did with 'The Lord Of The Rings', and this is just not that.
These movies have a different tone, they're more light and fun, sort of like Indiana Jones. They've expanded this rather small book into a trilogy that should have been a great three hour film.
It does serve for great cliffhangers though. I have to say that I fell in love with Evangeline Lilly's character, she's the most badass in the movie, more than Legolas in my opinion. My favorite action scene was the barrel sequence, it was brilliant! And of course the best scene of the movie was the Smaug scene; just as perfect as the Gollum scene from the first film.
