Review of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) by Sunera S — 22 Apr 2015
It's decent. As someone that doesn't really love the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit franchise it is a solid finale movie filled with great action scenes. The sound design, visual effects, costumes, and score are all great as usual and Cumberbatch gives a winning performance as the dragon again and Ian McKellen and Lee Pace are wonderful too.
It's more or less just a final battle but this whole prequel series (as many have said before me) seems like it could have been told in one or two movies tops. This series seemed like the equivalent of stretching silly putty from one end of the room to the other side of town.
I'm sure fans got what they wanted, I got a decent film rather than the ok first two.
