A good start to the trilogy. Some of the sequences go on longer then necessary, but Jackson has a habit of doing that sometimes (the Vrex vs Kong battle in King Kong). I feel more time could have been spent on setting up the individual personalities of the dwarfs.
It's a nice beginning, but The Fellowship trilogy was still better.
