Running 3 hours long, An Unexpected Journey is all filler. Some of that filler is entertaining and even enchanting. But, all the fluff that's enjoyable in the moment leaves you feeling like all this empty filler was for nothing at the end of 3 long hours.
While The Lord of the Rings series was freaking brilliant, AN Unexpected Journey feels more like cinematic junk food.
