Review of The Hoax (2006) by Dave D — 07 Dec 2007
Alfred Molina and [surprisingly] Richard Gere are excellent in this story about a US writer in the early 1970s who pretends he has access to reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes in order to receive a big cash advance for the plutocrat's ghosted autobiography.
Much more interesting and less self-satisfied than the Oceans Eleven film and its sequels, and has the added bonus of being true. The half hour before the climax drags a bit though.
