Review of The Hoax (2006) by Michele B — 08 Oct 2008
A good movie made even better with the knowledge that the events of this movie actually happened!
This is one of those movies where I would never bring myself to rent it, but had stuck it on my Netflix cue, and low and behold: a thouroughly fascinating chain of events which eventually lead to Nixon's downfall of all things!
It's almost painful to watch what a life filled with lies does to someone emotionally. You'd almost think Irving was a sociopath, capable of rationalizing any action that served his purposes, except for the little mannerisms that let the viewer know his perpetually false lifestyle was getting to him.
Strong performances all around.
