Review of The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017) by Richard S — 03 Apr 2018
I've not seen a really decent buddy action comedy since Rush Hour which I think was released about 20 years ago now (which makes me feel really old!) and after seeing this that status sadly remains the same.
The film should have worked with 2 well loved stars who you would expect to have great onscreen chemistry and banter. However, they just didn't seem to work together, Samuel L Jackson was great at being Samuel L Jackson but Ryan Reynolds just didn't bounce off him as well as I thought he would.
If you've seen the trailer then you've already seen all of the funny bits and the rest of the film is a fairly average action movie. The final chase through the streets of Amsterdam during the last 20 minutes to the soundtrack of Black Betty was probably the most memorable part of the film.
