The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a little odd and its quirky humor won't amuse everyone who watches it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it; while it isn't a perfect adaptation of the book, it still keeps the whimsical spirit of the novel close to heart.
The cast fits the characters perfectly, with Martin Freeman and Zooey Deschanel the standouts in an ensemble of huge talents. It's not perfect science fiction entertainment or comedy, but it mixes the two to great result - I'm actually a little sad I won't see adaptations of Douglas's later novels.
Either way, though, with an open mind and the right sense of humor, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a hilarious sci-fi treat.
