Review of The Hitcher (1986) by Sherry K — 09 Sep 2007
Finally got around to seeing the original. I would like to think that this was a very important film for its time. Not a lot of violence or gore, but more of a suspense tale. I am not a big fan of C. Thomas Howell or Jennifer Jason Leigh, who have both dropped off the map.
Rutger Hauer was the only talented actor in this movie. I would watch it at least once, sinche it's such a milestone flick, but don't expect many surprises. I favor the remake, which seems to be more polished and thought out.
There are a few twists in the remake, but they work out for the better. Not the worst 80's movie by far, but I would've picked two other leading actors.
