Review of The Hitcher (1986) by David H — 27 Apr 2010
The hitcher is a creepy horror film about a young man played C. thomas Howell (the outsiders and E.T: the extra terristal) is driving to california to exchange a car from illinois which when he is driving during a stormy night he picks up a hitchhiker named John ryder and then later on in the film C.
thomas howell sees the murders of the hitcher's victims the film is not just like your average 80's horror flick like a nightmare on elm street etc because the hitcher is a great horror film it probably had made one of the better ideas on the ideas of the horror genre because the hitcher is like a R rated version of duel but without a killer truck the hitcher has one of the most creepiest script by eric reid (near dark and bad moon) the hitcher has a creepy killer played by rutger hauer (flesh and bone and dracula III legacy) but later on the film C.
thomas howell meets a young woman played by jennifer jason leigh (flesh and bone and single white female) who at first doesnt believe him but later does it has a strange twist added to it the hitcher has some creepy and graphic scenes SPOILER ALERT: ONE OF THE MOST CREEPIEST SCENES IS WHEN C.
THOMAS HOWELL IS THAT THE RESTURANT EATING A BRUGER AND FRIES AND SEES A HUMAN FINGER IN THE FRIES AND THE OTHER CREEPIEST SCENE IS WHEN JENNIFER JASON LEIGH IS STUCK TO A SEMI AND THE SEMI'S CARGO.
creepy idea the hitcher is different any other horror film because most horror films are like guts and peices this one is a great horror film that is highly recommended not just for the gore but the creepy plot and the killler is just so creepy because it makes to where you do not want to be out on the road in a stormy night and see a hitchiker because he may seem nice but he could kill you so just when psycho came out it made it to where people could never be in showers ever again jaws made it to where people never wanted to go swimming ever again and the hircher makes it to where we all do not want to drive with a stranger because sometimes you should listen to your parents never pick up strangers because you may never know sometimes they can kill you, steal your car etc.
