Review of The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2007) by Nick B — 22 Aug 2010
Upon first viewing I liked it more than its predecessor, purely for the fact that this was more of an action-horror which worked well. It wasn't as shocking as the first, which I thought was a good thing as it initially put me off the first film.
This sequel could have easily been another already-done-before scenario, but the fact that it was action-horror meant that it felt original and, more importantly, different than the first film. However, the final survivors kind of felt predictable, or at least are the characters that the audience probably liked the most.
It was kind of ironic that Daniella Alonso, who starred in Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, also appeared in this sequel, as I felt the respective first films shared very similar elements. It was also nice to see Jessica Stroup in this as I love her in 90210.
