Review of The Hills Have Eyes 2 (2007) by Jose M — 21 Feb 2013
The Hills Have Eyes 2 unrated is written by Craven duo Wes and Jonathan, his son. The film is crueler than its predecessor, done by Alexandre Aja. Here we are teamed with group of idiotic national guardsmen on a private sector in the southwest.
There they discover the camp is completely empty with no signs of life or intelligence, so the ill-trained squad goes on patrol. There they are attacked by primitive hill mutants, picking them off one by one which the question is will the squad be wiped out by the mutants or themselves? The Hills Have Eyes 2 was written and directed by team Jonathan and Wes Craven (father and son) and they do not exactly deliver the ferociousness the previous film set.
There is gore and some nice kills, but the squad is too annoying to be liked or care at all. The only thing new this film shows is the inept nature of the National Guard. The squad actually gets themselves killed! One fat private goes down a flimsy and it rips.
Two guys shoot their squad leader, trying to win medals, by accident. I thought I was watching a comedy, not a good one. The Hills Have Eyes 2 is a disappointment with only the same gore and sexual violence the first one had.
Make the right turn if you come across this film.
