*spoiler alert: in this review I may reveal key plot points. I try not to ruin anything but if you don't want to know about anything that happens do not read on*.

You know, while I was watching the remake of this movie, I thought to myself, "Meh, this isn't that great, but I'm sure the original is much better." I think I was wrong. Whereas Last House on the Left was very believable and innovative in its degradation scenes, and the remake of this movie was just relentlessly bleak, this movie seemed to play out more like a stereotypical action film. A somewhat goofy, stereotypical action film. Alot of the action was not very believable, such as when one of the freaks tumbles pretty far down a rocky hill and gets right back up, or when one of the other freaks gets killed by a dog. The movie was showing some promise when the freaks were threatening to eat a baby, but then they didn't deliver, and get this, while in the remake all of the good guys die, this one leaves like three of them standing. Last House on the Left is still the only Wes Craven film that I truly love, so far everything else he has made that I've seen has been merely decent.
