A poor retelling of a great story, completely butchering characters and touching moments alike. In attempting to tackle every issue, angle, and storyline in 140 minutes, The Help delves into nothing, only delivering surface-value entertainment and thankfully, a show-saving performance by Octavia Spencer.
The movie lacks the charm it parades and the depth that it requires.
