Review of The Help (2011) by Lewis E — 23 Dec 2014
The new perspective of historic racial themes from the female, black maids was appreciated and the film is engaging when it allows these characters to intimately express themselves. The tendency for the story to feel like desperate housewives and the extreme running time nearly lost it half a star, but in the end my respect for the subject material, and the recognition that I'm not the target audience, means it recieves a fairly respectable rating.
