This film is based on a best selling novel by Kathryn Stockett. I have never read the book but the movie is powerful and heartbreaking. Its about a really controversial topic: the racism.

The movie goes back to the time when white women used to have black maids, who were in charge of cleaning, cooking and taking care of their kids, only to be mistreated. Even if its something that happened long time ago it makes you think about how our modern society still has a lot of discrimination and racism and how sometimes we base our actions in badly made prejudices.

It has really good cast, Emma Stone plays a really lovely and charming role, Bryce Dallas is the bitchy evil women that every controversial movie needs, and Octavia Spencer makes you laugh more than once.

The acting is really good, you end up hating and loving some of the main characters. It makes you feel something for them. It includes a little bit of humor pointing out the shameful behavior of most of the white people who felt superior without losing the main point.

In my opinion I think everyone should watch this movie to make conscience on how we treat other people that may have less or more opportunities than us. It may seem a little long but the story will captive you.
