Review of The Heiress (1949) by Keith B — 17 Jun 2007
For the majority of it, it will feel like just another cheesy romance flick. By the end, you'll know why this is de Havilland's defining film, as she does a complete 180 in character, and pulls it off with great precision.
Monty Clift is a great counterpart, charming but sleazy at the same time. Not all romances have to end perfectly, and there's something uniquely rewarding when they don't.
