Review of The Heartbreak Kid (2007) by Brian C — 18 Apr 2012
Carlos Mencia is in it. Consider yourself warned. The fact that the movie is ugly, nasty, and often downright cruel doesn't help at all. Those traits can work when it's what the filmmakers were going for, but I'm pretty sure we were meant to actually sympathize with Ben Stiller's character.
He was more likable in Dodgeball than in this, and that's saying something. I laughed about once or twice, but even those moments felt weird and off-putting. When a comedy leaves you feeling depressed, that's never a good sign.
