Review of The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things (2004) by Danny G — 28 Dec 2010
A very twisted, recklessly dark, and mind-bending story made to rattle your cage in various ways. Asia Argento's visionary portrayal of humanity is emotionally riveting, vile, and breathtakingly genius beyond all standards.
"The Heart is Deceitful" is an inventive and frightening triumph that is well worth a few awards if you can look pass the revolt and into the definitive art that brings it all together. Argento delivers a powerful performance, both on and off camera.
Why she hasn't been awarded Best Actress is beyond my comprehension, but when simply put, maybe the critics were just not ready for the complex craft this film tends to offer.
