Review of The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008) by Carrissa V — 22 Mar 2009
The idea of this film could have been pretty good, but like most of the pg13 bollocks these days the execution of it wasnt......to start off with there is no haunting whatsoever in this movie! its should be called the ' slight bothering of molly hartley' as thats all that happens to her, she gets 'occasionally bothered' by what I can only describe as a ' vision' her not dead in the slightest and in a mental home mother.
...it tries to be clever but falls at every hurdle with predictable cliches, like the class of stereotypical schoolgirls for instance (the good girl, the bad girl, the bitch, the bible basher etc etc) and when the 'jumpy' moments (eventually) came, you already saw them coming when you woke up that morning they were that predictable! if your into Gossip Girl (shudder) youll love this and probably think this is the scariest movie every created.
....and if you have more than half a brain like the rest of us, youll go rent The Exorcism of Emily rose and see how it should have been done...
