Review of The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008) by Liz — 19 Sep 2009
I wasn't sure how to feel about this movie. The reviews were bad, the trailer looked excellent, but overall I wanted to see it. So I rented it today and well... the premise is more intriging than the film itself. The acting was great, the special effects were decent, and the idea of the haunting and what went into was well thought out. But the way the film was made, and the way the script was written, no actual haunting went on. It was a low-class horror movie, with a few thrills, and chills but mostly just bitchy teenagers and their problems.
The ending would've been better if the plot had been more thought out, and the ending more described so you could understand what was really happening.
RATED PG-13 for:
Some violence.
Language.
