Review of The Haunting (1963) by Douglas C — 10 Nov 2007
This must be the best horror film...though not really one as such; although it is a film about peoples' experiences in a " haunted house ", it goes much deeper....are the hauntings real, or the figment of a tormented mind; is the heroine simply experiencing a nervous breakdown, and the hauntings the resulting fallout.
...the film is beautifully filmed, written and edited, with tight direction by robert Wise, and an eerie, dissonant score by Humphrey Searle....everything is perfect with this film......
