Wise's The Haunting was the most impressive horror film I've ever seen. It is a quintessential classic, and THE fundamental horror picture, in that, the storyline remains relatively simplistic, while it captures every essence of the fear that should be instilled in us, doing utmost justice to what we should expect from such a title.

The interaction between the characters was, in my opinion, what set it apart from others of its calibre- the film chiefly focuses not on one main character, but rather the entire group and their unique attributes as a single driving force; as the film reaches its climax the characters are all drawn together in an effort to grasp hold of the situation, despite the feuds and incipient dislike growing amongst some of the members.

I couldn't have been happier with the result of what began as a whim to watch an old horror film to remedy an abstract mood that consumed me.
