Director Takashi Miike is known for his shockingly gruesome psychological horror films, so what on earthy is he doing making a comedy musical? The preposterous plot, soap opera style melodrama, inappropriate song and dance numbers, and amateurish claymation are so incongruously thrown together that the most bizarre thing about this altogether bizarre film is the fact that it works so well.
