Maybe the reason reviews of this movie are so low is because of the " romance" categorization. While Nick (Aiden Quinn) is sultry, the movie is about life in an oppressive patriarchal regime.
It has top notch actors and sticks closely to Atwood's novel. It feels a bit dated at this point, but it is definitely worth watching.
