Review of The Handmaid's Tale (1990) by Sherri S — 13 Mar 2008
This movie was definitely not as great as the book, but it is clear that a true effort was made with the adaptation. The film fails in providing the depth of ideas and character found in the novel, but succeeds very well in evoking the same ominous, creepy tone.
The message of the film is one that still translates well to modern society. Read the book first.
