Review of The Handmaid's Tale (1990) by Asif K — 07 Apr 2011
The movie probably would have benefited from another half-hour or so in order to create some context of the events taken place. While I did not mind the changes that were made from the book, and the casting was terrific, it really felt like you needed to read the book in order to understand what was going on.
I've read that several people who were involved with the making of this movie, most particularly the writer, were very disappointed with the final product...not knowing what was the original intention, I can't say that I blame them.
