Adapted from a Victorian novel and reset in 1930's colonial Japan and Korea, The Handmaiden tells the story of Lady Hideko, a Japanse Lady who has lived a secluded life with only her uncle whom she reads to. Enter Sookee and Fujiwara two con artists who plan to defraud her of her inheritance by pretending to be her Handmaiden and a rich Count respectively.
Set over three chapters, The Handmaiden is a captivating and engrossing story which manages to pull the rug right from underneath you and it isn't simple just another Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
