Review of The Hairdresser's Husband (1990) by Arif Y — 03 Feb 2009
A fairy tale where the setting is the passion between the two main characters. Almost like a theatre, great new age like sound track is from michael nyman so be carefull to watch on a good sound system.
The whole plot is so disconnected from reality that it's surreal, which is exactly the directors aim; both rochefort and galiena are really good, playing out the timelessnes of their existence and passion.
The north african streaks in the movie make the disconnection from reality complete while softening the blow towards the end of the movie. I really enjoyed this movie, just like in arizona dream, total disconnection.
