Review of The Gunman (2015) by Dave R — 29 Mar 2015
There is simply only one point to the movie The Gunman and that's to show the world that Sean Penn works out and has a very fit body. This guy takes his shirt off more then Stallone or Arnold did in their prime.
What the heck is going on? There's only one real decent thing about this movie...the accents! Put together Javier Bardem's Spanish accent, Ray Winstone's English/Scotish, Idris Elba's English and Mark Rylance's whatever the heck he is doing accent and it was pretty cool.
However, that's about it. After the opening sequence, this movie goes four corners (basketball term) for about an hour. Then it tries to pick things up and go from there. If you go with a friend and have running sarcastic commentary the whole time (our theater neighbors didn't really appreciate me and my sons), this might be worth watching.
Otherwise, stay away.
