Review of The Gumball Rally (1976) by Jari K — 13 Oct 2007
Take some of the most desirable cars in the world, pair them up with a group of daring and slightly mad drivers and send them cross-country at crazy speeds; this is the basic formula for The Gumball Rally.
This truly is the ultimate cult racer film, though it was overshadowed by the star-packed and cheesier Cannonball Run. This is one film that will have the audience choosing sides over who will win: The crazy Italian and his reserved counterpart in the Ferrari Daytona, or the businessman and his mustachioed partner in the Cobra 427? Lapchick the crazy Hungarian, the two old Brits in the 300SL, or the two foxes in the 911 2.
4 Targa? The ending will have you laughing and shouting at the same time. 5 out of 5.
