Review of The Guest (2014) by Nikita D — 11 Jan 2015
Adam Wingard who directed the really amazing YOU'RE NEXT, is back with THE GUEST, a real mess of a movie. Clearly, the filmmakers wanted to imitate a late 80s horror/thriller but with a dull central performance from Dan Stevens and absolutely no wit or sense of humor, THE GUEST just feels like your average straight to DVD (remember those?) flick.
A genre buster/celebrator like this needs a young James Cameron or even better, the wacked out sensibility of Paul Verhoeven in the director's chair. THE GUEST has neither of these, but Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) looks great!
